2012 Çay String Thing

Puzzled how their three block street can support two active çaycılar (tea sellers), Julie Upmeyer and Anika Weshinskey launch an investigation. Just how many teas do each of the stores on their street consume in one day? With the shop-keepers permission, they counted their tea consumption on June 11th, 2012.

For their installation ‘Çay String Thing’, they illustrated their data by tying one string for each cup of tea from the shops, to the door of their preferred tea seller.
